The objective of the project is to reduce the use of woody biomass for cooking in targeted households through promotion of improved cookstoves. The project covers two sub-components: 1) introduce advanced cookstove technology and standardized fuel to replace inefficient charcoal and wood stoves; 2) scaling up intermediate cookstove technologies in rural areas. It would be implemented by two private sector companies, Inyenyeri and DelAgua.

The project targets at Rwanda’s Eastern Province and three districts across the Western Province, namely Rubavu, Nyabihu and Musanze, and potentially Kigali City.
