A background note prepared for the 13th session of United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF13, 7-11 May 2018). This report described household energy consumption in India and its impacts, with disaggregated data by States on fuelwood consumption.

The note indicated that fuelwood consumption was the major cause of forest degradation in India, contributed to more than 93% of GHG emissions from forestry sector in the country.
