KORE - Knowledge and learning in action

Knowledge management is about identifying, co-creating and sharing solutions to help solve challenges, so others can learn from and apply them. Knowledge management and learning processes contribute to acknowledging, valuing and elevating the experience and know-how of men and women on the frontline of the fight against food crises. Investing in systematic knowledge management and learning underpins more effective emergency response and resilience programming, by providing organizations and stakeholders with robust evidence and knowledge on what works and why, to inform policies and actions, and bring about desired changes.

The Knowledge sharing platform on Emergencies and Resilience – KORE, facilitates the promotion and uptake of knowledge and learning to inform strategic and programmatic decision-making. KORE supports the collection and use of evidence-based and cross-sectoral knowledge to position FAO as a lead agency across the emergency and resilience portfolio of food and agriculture interventions.

KORE's main technical functions include:

  • Supporting FAO offices worldwide with the integration of knowledge and learning processes into their emergency and resilience programming while aligning to strategic planning and priorities as well as analytical processes and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning).
  • Developing normative and methodological guidance, materials, and tools to support effective knowledge management and learning for programme quality.
  • Developing knowledge management and learning capacities, and supporting FAO offices and technical teams in the identification, documentation, generation and dissemination of good practices and evidence-based knowledge to inform programming and policymaking.
  • Acting as a knowledge broker and facilitating multi-sectoral knowledge sharing and co-creation with key stakeholders active in addressing food crises and building the resilience of agricultural livelihoods.
