Région du Comité FAO/OMS de coordination pour l'Asie (CCASIA) - Coordonnateur régional: China
Le Comité de coordination pour l’Asie a été créé lors de la onzième session de la Commission du Codex Alimentarius qui s’est déroulée à Rome (Italie) en juillet 1976. La première session du Comité a eu lieu à New Delhi (Inde) en janvier 1977.
Le coordonnateur régional opère au sein du Centre national chinois pour l’évaluation des risques de sécurité sanitaire des aliments.
Les principales priorités de la Chine en tant que coordonnateur incluent l’amélioration de la participation aux réunions du Codex, un plaidoyer visant à accorder la plus haute importance aux travaux du Codex dans la région, l’optimisation de l’harmonisation des normes de sécurité sanitaire des aliments, et l’accélération du renouveau du Comité grâce au partage d’informations et à des mises à jour régulières sur les problématiques liées à la sécurité sanitaire des aliments dans la région.
La Chine souhaite également promouvoir la collaboration avec les organisations ayant le statut d’observateur et améliorer la communication entre les Membres régionaux de la FAO, l’OMS et le Secrétariat du Codex.

The 7th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum 2023 Celebrates the Codex 60th Anniversary
The 7th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum 2023 held on 8 and 9 November 2023 in Shenzhen, China, commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC).
This high-level forum was hosted by the Shenzhen Food and Drug Safety Commission Office with full support provided by the Commission’s Director-General Cai Yingquan and the Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation. The event was organized by the Shenzhen Institute of Standards and Technology.

ACT in Pakistan / Training of trainers on Codex standards and foodborne antimicrobial resistance
FAO Pakistan, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Commissioner Office of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, conducted a three-day workshop on Codex standards and foodborne antimicrobial resistance (AMR). More than 40 participants from federal and provincial livestock departments, food authorities and other relevant departmentsattended thistraining of trainerson 23-25 October 2023 in Islamabad. ACT in Cambodia / First-ever trainer workshop for veterinarians and livestock farmers on AMR and Codex texts
FAO Cambodia, in collaboration with the National Animal Health and Production Research Institute of the Government of Cambodia, trained 40 stakeholders from the livestock sector about the ways to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and implement related Codex guidelines. Pakistan shares its experience in addressing foodborne AMR with Cambodia and Nepal
FAO Pakistan hosted a roadmap workshop to discuss priorities in addressing foodborne antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 11 September 2023. ACT in Nepal / Strengthening food safety laboratory to monitor antimicrobial resistance
Nepal assessed the ability to test for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food samples by its central food safety laboratory as part of the “Action to support implementation of Codex AMR texts (ACT)” project. In memoriam - Hajime Toyofuku
It is with great sadness that we report the loss of one of Codex’ most active delegate. Hajime Toyofuku, Professor at the Yamaguchi University, Japan, and Head of the Japanese delegation to many Codex meetings, from food hygiene to fish and fishery products, passed away in September 2023.
In all the sessions of the different Codex Committees he attended, Prof. Toyofuku was always prepared and informed, working towards progress, while also making sure Codex respected its mandate and procedures.

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Codex in Japan
Japan joined the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, by organizing the online symposium “Celebrating 60th Anniversary of Codex Alimentarius Commission – looking 10 years ahead to ensure international food safety,” which was held on the 24th of July, 2023 in Tokyo.
