In this webinar, Dr. Jessica Vieira presents a new innovation introduced by Apeel Sciences (California, USA). This plant-derived solution doubles to triples the shelf life of many types of fresh produce. It can reduce reliance on refrigeration, plastic packaging, certain post-harvest fungicides, and controlled atmosphere throughout the supply chain. Made of materials found in every bite of fruit, Apeel creates an invisible, edible “peel” on the outside of produce that slows the rate of water loss and oxidation, the primary causes of spoilage.
