New York – More integrated approaches between forests, energy and livelihoods can accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, according to a joint brief published today by the UN Forum on Forests Secretariat, FAO, the International Union of Forest Research Organizations and the United Nations Development Programme.

Project brief: Greening the humanitarian response in displacement settings

This project combines emergency assistance with long-term resilience and development efforts towards the sustainable management of forests and ecosystem restoration, enhancing livelihood resilience, energy access, nutrition and food security in displacement settings.

The objectives of the Green Urban Oases Programme is to turn dryland cities into “green urban oases” and strengthen their resilience to climatic, health, food and economic crisis, as well as to reduce the impact of urbanization on biodiversity and the surrounding natural environment.
