Global Soil Partnership

How to get involved

Anyone can join the Global Soil Doctors Programme and contribute to the selection and training of Soil Doctors across the world. Members of extension services, the private sector, farmer associations, academia, soil science societies, as well as independent actors, can be actively involved in the capacity-building process. Moreover, the Programme can benefit from the contribution of any actor who would like to share training materials, tutorials, local knowledge and field experiences through this website.

JOIN AS A PROMOTER

National and local Promoters are governmental agencies, extension services, universities/academia, soil science societies, farmers associations, NGOs, the private sector, or any other institutions actively working on sustainable soil management (SSM) and willing to implement the Global Soil Doctors Programme in their country. The Promoters have the local knowledge, the human resources, the facilities and the support of the government to enable the implementation of the programme at the country level and ensure long-term sustainability.

How to join:

  1. Read the Terms of Reference (EN | FR | ES | RU )
  2. Sign-up as a Promoter using this ONLINE FORM (EN | FR | ES | RU) which defines the mutual commitment between the Promoter and the Global Soil Partnership
  3. Develop the IMPLEMENTATION PLAN designed  for the local agri-food system
  4. Report the training activities to the GSP to see it in the GLOBAL MAP by writing to [email protected] or though THIS FORM (available soon).

JOIN AS A SOIL DOCTOR'S TRAINER

The Promoter selects Soil Doctor trainers according to specific criteria (see Annex 1 of the Terms of References: EN | FR ES | RU). Often trainers are soil experts, extension service workers, or technicians. They are provided with certified training by the GSP based on  educational POSTERSFIELD EXERCISES, and SOIL EDUCATIONAL KITS.

To become a certified trainer, you can contact the closest promoting institution on the MAP. If the program is not yet implemented in your country, you can propose possible Promotor institutions to [email protected] or join at anytime as a COLABORATOR.

JOIN AS A SOIL DOCTOR

Soil Doctors are champion farmers trained by the Soil Doctor trainers to support farmers in their community in implementing sustainable soil management (SSM) practices.

Certified Soil Doctors are provided with training, EDUCATIONAL POSTERSFIELD EXERCISES, and SOIL EDUCATIONAL KITS. In addition, as local advocates for Sustainable Soil Management (SSM), they receive BRANDED MATERIALS such as caps, vests, and backpacks.

Farmers interested in becoming a Soil Doctor can contact the closest Promotor on the MAP. If no nearby institutions are implementing the Programme, interested farmers can contact [email protected] or join at any time as COLLABORATOR.

JOIN AS A FARMER

Farmers are the final recipients of the Programme. They receive training and technical guidance from the Soil Doctors to improve their skills and knowledge of sustainable soil management.

Interested farmers should contact the closest Promotor or collaborator based on the GLOBAL MAP. If there are no nearby institutions already involved, please get in touch with [email protected].

JOIN AS A COLLABORATOR

Independent stakeholders that do not fit the Promoter criteria listed in the Terms of Reference, can implement any step of the Programme as a collaborator, using the available EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL.

Collaborators are also welcome to provide translated material, share trainings, educational material, videos and expertise.

Report your activities to the GSP to see it in the GLOBAL MAP by writing to [email protected] or though THIS FORM (available soon).

BECOME A DONOR OF THE GLOBAL SOIL DOCTORS PROGRAMME

Any donor or project interested in contributing to the protection of soil as a vital resource for farmers, can facilitate the implementation of the Programme in the field. This can be done through financial support to the Promoters or through the development of new material, translations, video tutorials, etc.

Donors should contact the closest national promoter based on the GLOBAL MAP or [email protected].
