International Mountain Day- 2022- Werabe University- Ethiopia
A three days International Mountain Day -2022 celebration was conducted at Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, College of Social Sciences, Werabe University - Silte Zone, SNNP, Ethiopia. Details of the events organized in the three days were as follows-
11th December 2022: International Mountain Day Poster Exhibition was opened in front of the University Seminar Hall.
"Know your Mountains: Quiz contest" was conducted in two groups- for under graduate and post graduate students- overwelmikng participation was recorded.
12th December 2022: Main IMD celebration was organized at the university Seminar hall- presentations were conducted on the following topics-
i). 'The Mountain Matters: The Global Distribution of the mountains' by Ms. Alima Seid Ali
ii). 'The Zenith of Siltie: the Mugo Mountains' by Mr. Anwar Chamiso- Dean CofSS
iii). ' The Land of Mountain Nayala- The Bale mountains' by Mr. Nuredin
iv). The Den of Walya- The Simiens' by Mr. Tagegen Nigussie
v). The Abode of Snow- The Himalaya' by Dr. D.K.Dube
Presentation was followed by the discussion session.
Guest of the honor Mr. Anwer Chamiso giving the opening address and also awarded the Winners of the Quiz Contest with prizes and certificates.
The IMD Poster exhibition continued at the University Seinar Hall.
13th December 2022: Under the University Community Service mendate the exhibition was organized at Werabe High School. Presentation was also conducted for the school children and staff.
At the successful complition of the three day hectic even the Werabe University President Dr. Tofik Jemal and Vice President Academic Affairs- Dr. Mohammed Amin congratulated the Convenor of the progra Mr. Anwer Chamiso and the Coordinator Dr. D.K.Dube for nicelly organizing such a usefull program in a grand manner.
