Moroccan Locust (DMA) egg-laying was in progress in all Central Asian (CA) countries as well as in Azerbaijan. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging started everywhere and egg-laying was in progress in most of the infested countries except in Armenia and Russia. Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) fledging started in Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan. Control operations of the 2016 locust campaign were coming to an end in almost all CCA countries; however, it is expected controlling LMI will be required later that year in Uzbekistan. In July, more than 1.8 million ha were treated against the three locust pests, this month also mainly against CIT.
