Partnering with WOAH

The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) is an intergovernmental organization and global authority on animal health that provides information on animal diseases and works to improve animal health globally.

The partnership between FAO and WOAH addresses issues related to animal health, food safety and veterinary public health, recognizing the critical role that animal health plays in ensuring food security, promoting sustainable agriculture and preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases (diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans).

Memberships

Along with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), FAO and WOAH are part of the One Health Quadripartite, which coordinates the inter-agency engagement to address issues related to the health of humans, animals, and the ecosystem.
