Leaving No One Behind – Women’s Cooperatives Workshop

In Türkiye, women’s labour force participation ranks lowest among all OECD countries. At the national level, it takes a considerable time and much effort to overcome the obstacles that prevent women from participating in the paid workforce.

Cooperatives are widely used in many countries, and especially in rural areas, as an agricultural policy tool to combat poverty. In this context, the “Women's Cooperatives Workshop” is being organized in cooperation with FAO, Altınbaş University and the Agricultural Rotary Club within the scope of World Food Day. The workshop will explore issues facing women’s cooperatives and aim to increase the professional capacities of cooperative members participating in the event. Members will also have opportunities to build links with private sector representatives for future cooperation. On the second day of the event, participants will visit the Historical Kadıköy Bazaar, which was opened by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and meet with market owners to acquire knowledge of how best to introduce their products to municipal consumers.
