International Millet Year Antalya Workshop: Status and Potential of Millet Production in the World and Türkiye

The United Nations General Assembly, during its 75th Session held in March 2021, declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as the lead institution celebrating this year, aims to raise awareness about the important contribution of millets to food security, their nutritional benefits and their potential for production under challenging climate conditions. The International Year of Millets and related activities thus provide a significant opportunity to focus the attention of policymakers and producers towards the potential of millet production.

This workshop aims to share knowledge and experiences related to millet cultivation, farming and utilization. It will bring together agricultural experts, farmers, researchers and stakeholders to discuss millet production challenges, potential, marketing and trade opportunities, as well as facilitate knowledge exchange among participants. Additionally, the workshop will explore future policy recommendations and opportunities for national and international collaborations with the participation of relevant sectors.
