ANNEX J CLOSING REMARKS BY REPRESENTATIVE OF THE DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF FISHERIES

by

Budi Wijarso1

Dr. Rabanal, Mr. Meecham, distinguished participants and observers to this Working Party, honoured guests, lady and gentlemen.

On behalf of the Directorate General of Fisheries and of the Central Java Fisheries Service, I wish to express my heartfelt satisfaction for the successful conclusion of your one-week Working Party on Small-Scale Shrimp/Prawn Hatcheries.

We, in Indonesia are very happy that you came and offered us all that you know on the subject of your meeting. We consider the production of shrimp and prawn seeds to be very important to us and I am sure we learned much from you even only during this short meeting.

On our part we tried to offer all that we are capable of offering, and share with you what we have been doing and also make your short stay comfortable. I hope that we have satisfied your needs.

But, I must also mention that we are happy to have two other FAO-sponsored assistance projects here in Semarang, namely, the Indonesian Fisheries Development Project or INFIDEP and the Extension Services Support to Small-Scale Fisheries. These two projects have assisted us in the organization of your meeting as host institution.

Semarang is gaining popularity and importance in the fisheries development field for Indonesia as well as in this region. With the presence of the above-named projects and the numerous fisheries meetings and workshops held here before, and your meeting this time, we hope that you will consider to come back again sometime to hold other meetings here and we will always welcome you.

In conclusion, I wish to congratulate and thank once again the sponsors and in particular the FAO/UNDP South China Sea Programme for the guidance they provided in this Working Party.

1 Programme Officer, Provincial Fisheries Service, Central Java province, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia

To all of you we bid goodbye, selamat jalan and we add till next time, selamat datang! again and again -

And on behalf of the Directorate General of Fisheries, I close this very successful Working Party on Small-Scale Shrimp/Prawn Hatcheries in Semarang.

Thank you.
