We are very pleased and honoured that you have selected Wuxi to hold the Third Advisory Committee Meeting of the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia. Please allow me, on behalf of the Wuxi Municipal Government and its people, to welcome you to Wuxi and the Third Advisory Committee Meeting.
As you are aware, all the member countries of NACA belong to the group of developing countries with similar history, experience and tasks. One of the common tasks is to develop aquaculture. I am confident that the development of aquaculture in all the respective countries will be accelerated, and friendship among the nations will be strengthened through the Third Advisory Committee Meeting.
Wuxi City is located at Taihu Lake area, which is well-known as the “land of rice and fish”. Freshwater fish farming is a traditional practice here. Our aquaculturists have accumulated a set of rich experience in integrated fish farming through many years of traditional practice, particularly during the past three decades after liberation. The holding of the Third Advisory Committee Meeting provides us a good opportunity to learn from you the new and advanced techniques of aquaculture. This will assist us in our effort to improve and expand the aquaculture development in Wuxi City.
Wuxi is one of the 15 main cities in China and it has many scenic spots. I hope you will be able to take time off from your heavy schedule to visit some of our parks and gardens. I understand that arrangement has been made for you to visit Yixing also. I am sure you will find the limestone caves breath-taking.
