6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The writer would like to express his gratitude to the Government of the People's Republic of China for accepting him as a Consultant on integrated fish farming. More specifically he would like to thank Madame Yang, Mr. Tian and Madame Jing of the Bureau of Aquatic Products in Beijing for arranging the overall Consultancy in China and for being such gracious hosts, Professor Lu, Mr. Shan, Mr. Pan, and the research staff at the Wuxi Centre for providing a pleasant working environment and for their dedication to the objectives of the Consultancy, Mr. Fan for being such a good host in Guangdong Province, and the numerous Chinese Government Officials who cooperated so willingly. Mr. Zhou, technical interpreter, deserves special praise for his competence, hard work, and good humour. Finally, thanks are due to FAO/UNDP officials in Rome, Beijing and Bangkok for their part in support of the Consultancy, particularly Mr. Chen Foo Yan, who accompanied the Consultant to China and spent a considerable amount of time and effort in explaining the objectives of the Consultancy and suggesting working methods during the first four days in China. This orientation was extremely valuable and enabled the Consultant to start productive work without delay.
