Inspired by the results obtained during FAO/UNDP Project BGD/87/045 and convinced by the results obtained through the present project (TCP/BGD/4451) on large scale implementation of aquaculture extension programme in rural ponds through Trickle Down System (TDS) of aquaculture extension, the Govt. of Bangladesh has already initiated a nation wide project covering 400 thanas of the country. Fund for running this 5 year long project is exclusively provided by the Govt. of Bangladesh. This step is also being viewed as the final step towards institutionalization of fisheries extension under the DOF. It is expected that the project (TCP/BGD/4451) through its extended phase upto Dec. `95 will provide valuable support to the Govt. project during its inception phase.
