Although the national gene bank has more trained personnel at this stage, there is a need for specialized short training courses and postgraduate studies for staff members working at institutions dealing with forest genetic resources. Specialized short training courses and on the job training should be provided to technicians with medium level education.
Research should prioritize forestry and industrial plants, indigenous fruit trees, medicinal plants and fast growing indigenous species, highlighting:
- seed conservation;
- definition of great genetic diversity zones;
- vegetative propagation of endemic species.
