CHAIRMAN: The Seventh Meeting of Commission I is called to order. We are to discuss item 7, "Feasibility Study on Expanding the Provision of Agricultural Inputs as Aid-in-Kind".

Before we come to this subject, there are two matters which I want to bring to your attention. A resolution on World Food Day has been tabled by the delegate from Peru. It has been referred to the Resolutions Committee and, hopefully, it should be with us for consideration by late this evening. Depending on the progress it makes through the procedural channels, we will take it up for consideration sometime tomorrow, possibly first thing in the morning.

The second point I wanted to mention was that the delegates must have had an opportunity, after hearing the detailed presentation given by Dr J. V. K. Rao on Friday evening, of reading through the two documents, C 87/20 and C 87/20-Sup. 1, which contained the introduction or the foreword by the Director-General, a summary of their findings and recommendations, and also the detailed backup data contained in the supplement. Whilst I throw open the subject for discussion now, I would submit for your consideration that this is an item which is scheduled for discussion in two sessions today, the Seventh Meeting this morning and the Eighth Meeting this afternoon. Depending on the number of speakers from the floor, if we are able to conclude this discussion earlier than 5.30 pm this evening I will seek your indulgence that we may this afternoon, depending on the availability of time and when the discussion on this item is concluded, take up for discussion Item 8, Progress Report on International Agricultural Adjustment, but this is provisional as of now.

Item 7 is now open for discussion.
