In spite of slow progress of the project, the first two completed hatcheries have started their work in FSDC Uttar Pradesh. The first experiences of these hatcheries have been positive. Especially, incubation in funnel hatching nets provided much better results than incubation in hapas.
One FSDC West Bengal hatchery in Bihar has started to breed fish in the traditional way in hapas.
Almost all hatcheries, even those partly completed, stocked some spawn in the ponds.
