1) Activities

- What group activities are the villagers currently engaged in?
- What year did the group begin?
- What activities did the group do as part of the SFDP?
- Where did the group get the idea for this activity?
2) Rules and structure
- Does the group have rules? What are they?

- Have the rules changed? How does the group change the rules?

- How are important decisions made? Does the group have a committee or are decisions made at group meetings?

- How does the group resolve disagreements?

- What sanctions are there for members who do not follow the rules?

3) Membership
- Who can join the group? Are there any special rules or requirements?
- How has membership changed since the beginning of the group?
- What accounts for the addition or loss of members?
- Has the group ever had to remove a member?
4) Leadership
- How does the group choose its leaders?
- Do the leaders change over time?
- Have leaders ever been removed? Why?
- How frequently are leaders chosen?
5) Finances
- Does the group have a savings account?
- Does the group borrow money from a bank or other institution?
6) Monitoring
- Does the group keep records? What kind?

- Who keeps the records?

- Do group members have ready access to records? Are they posted in the village/discussed in meetings?

- Do group members use records to improve performance of group activities?

7) Role of Women

This study, which was conducted in 1990, two years after completion of FAO project assistance, assesses the performance of the Small Farmer Development Programme in Thailand and determines the degree to which Thailand's Department of Agricultural Extension institutionalized some of the elements of the participatory, informal small-group approach promoted under the FAO People's Participation Programme.
