HAITI LEGISLATION
-Registration fee = 2 000 gourdes
-Licence fee = (1) base fee (2) multiplied by gross tonnage of vessel (3) multiplied by variable coefficient according to type of fishing: bottom fish = 1; sardines = 1/2; tuna = 1/3; crustaceans = 2.

LEGISLATION
Licences may be issued only where bilateral or multilateral agreements are in force.

LEGISLATION
Local fishing vessel defined as one owned by nationals or by companies incorporated under Haitian laws and registered in Haiti, of which at least 51% of the share capital with voting rights is held by nationals.

HAITI LEGISLATION
-Foreign flag vessels operating in national waters must:
- obtain concession contract;
- hold permit or licence;
- present documents regarding registration, nationality, vessel sanitation, identification of vessel, health of crew. (Art. 17)
-Owner must hold fishing permit. (Arts. 19 and 20)
-Fishing products to be landed in Haiti first even if destined for export. (Art.24)
No vessel weighing over 3 tons may fish within 3 miles of coast. (Art. 34)
-Only locals are entitled to fish in territorial waters (12 miles) and internal waters. (Art. 36)
-Concessions and permits may only be issued to companies established uncle Haitian law, with headquarters in Haiti, at least 51% of voting capital held by Haitians, and a bank guarantee of 25% of value of investment. (Art. 64)
-Vessels authorized to fish in territorial waters may take only authorized species in determined zones, must respect quotas, employ Haitians as trainees on board, and submit to any inspection measures deemed necessary by authorized fisheries officers. (Art. 69)

LEGISLATION
-Logbooks to be maintained specifying quantities of fish taken, description of species and fishing areas.
-Report on catch landed to be made every six months.
