LITHUANIA LEGISLATION
-Catch quotas by species shall be determined annually by Environmental Protection Department, and by-catch by species shall not exceed 5% in weight of the total catch. (Sect. 3)
-Fishing licences issued by the Fishery Management and Pisciculture Agency. (Sect. 4)
-Fishing licensee shall comply with the following:
- respect limits of the catch quota allocated to him;
- display identification markings of fishing gear,
- keep accounts of fish landed and caught by species, by weight and by fishing area;
- provide inspectors with all required information;
- assess at his own expense the impact of his activities on the environment and supply with appropriate documentation, take all necessary measures to avoid or reduce negative impact of activities and satisfy requests of environmental authorities. (Sect. 6) -Masters and operators shall:
- on request, allow boarding of environment inspectors and supply them with all information and facilities to perform their duty.
-General obligation and prohibition within the EEZ concerning: vessels of more than 32 meters length and engine capacity of more than 600 hp.; fishing with prohibited gear or in prohibited season and areas; stowage and marking of gear according to type of vessel; use of noxious substances or innovative fishing methods. (Sect. 10)
-Fishing of sea trout, salmon, flatfish, turbot and brill prohibited with determined fishing gear for determined period. (Sections 12 and 11)
-Minimum mesh size of trawl for cod = 105 m.m.; of gillnet for flatfish = 110 m.m.; of driftnet for salmon = 165 m.m. or 157 m.m. (natural or synthetic fibres); minimum mesh spacing also specified by type of fish and gear.
-Prohibition to attach any device which may reduce size of meshes to fishing gear. (Sect. 14)
-Minimum size of fishing species listed. (Sect. 16)
-By-catch of undersized fish allowed within the following percentage: 5% for cod and 15% for herring and sprat. (Sect. 17)

AGREEMENTS
Note:
Lithuania has signed Fisheries Agreements with Canada on 1992, the United States of America on 1992, Sweden on 1993, the EEC on 1993, Denmark and the home Government of Faroe Islands on 1993 and Finland on 1993. This list is not supposed to be exhaustive.
LEGISLATION
-Holder of fishing licence shall provide the Agency with fishing data on catches by species, by weight, and by fishing area, not later than 15 days after the month following the end of fishing operations. (Sect. 6.(3))
-Catch reports shall be made in a prescribed form. (Appendix 1)
-Master and mate of foreign fishing vessel shall send to the Agency reports on its position within the EEZ including the following: flag State, registration number, name and call sign of the vessel; geographical position when they left or entered the EEZ; year, month, day and time GMT; amount of fish (in Kg.) on board or landed, and incidental by-catch. (Sect. 7 and Appendix 2)
-Fishing logs to be maintained in the way prescribed by recommendations of the International Baltic Sea Fishery Commission. (Sect. 8 and Appendix 3)
