ABSTRACT
This report reviews the organisation and implementation of the 1990 FISHIN' Project Markets Survey. Some preliminary findings are also reported. On the basis of the survey experiences, recommendations are set forth which should be considered in the context of other fisheries market studies in the future.

EDITORIAL NOTE

This is one in a series of Field Reports by the Socio-Economic Working Group of FAO/UNDP Project UGA/87/007, Fisheries Statistics and Information Systems (FISHIN). The Project is now finalising its FISHIN' Notes and Records Series. Some of the earlier papers did not appear at the time they were drafted, and steps are now being taken to publish their final versions. A slight mixup occurred in this process and the paper first released as SEC Rpt 18 was actually part of a draft for another publication, still in preparation. SEC Rpt 18 (Rev.) replaces SEC Rpt 18 in the official FISHIN Notes and Records series.
Socio-Economic Field Reports (SEC Fld Rpts) are intended as occasional working documents/briefs/notes covering on-going Group activities, issued for the information of Project team members and other interested colleagues. Length, format, and content vary according to the type and scope of activity reviewed (field trips, surveys, studies, workshops, etc.). It is cautioned that observations and findings presented in the Reports should be treated as preliminary and subject to further verification. Correspondence, comments, and suggestions are welcomed and may be forwarded to: John-Eric Reynolds, Socio-Economic Advisor, FISHIN' Project, FAO/UN, P.O. Box 521, Kampala, Uganda (or from August 1991 c/o Fisheries Policy and Planning -- FIPP, Fisheries Department, FAO/UN, Via delle Terme di Caracalla, 00100, Rome, Italy) and also to C.T. Kirema-Mukasa, Fisheries Economist (Marketing), Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Fisheries Department, P.O. Box 4, Entebbe, Uganda.
