SEED OF EXOTIC PINES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY QUEENSLAND

The following letter, dated 24 January 1974, has been received by the Forestry Department, FAO:

“Recently the Department of Forestry, Queensland, has revised its Exotic Pine species seed requirements. As a result, we are able to offer for sale stocks of seed surplus to our requirement. Details of surplus stocks are as follows:

A. Pinus elliottii var. elliottii

  1. Up to 1 500 lbs (600 kg) of seed collected from seed orchards from 1969 to 1973. The bulk of stocks are from 1972 and 1973 seed collections, with an average Laboratory Germination Count (L.G.C.) of 75%. The price of this seed is Australian $20.00 per lb. Documentation and freight charges will be extra.

  2. Up to 3 000 lbs (1 200 kg) of seed collected from high quality, high pruned select stems in routine plantations. Seed is from 1971 and 1970 collections with an average L.G.C. of 70%. The price of this seed is Australian $ 11.00 per lb. Documentation and freight charges will be extra.

B. Pinus taeda

Up to 750 lbs (30 kg) of seed collected from high quality, high pruned, select stems in routine plantations. The bulk of this seed is from 1971 and 1972 collections with an average L.G.C. of 72%. The price of this seed is Australian $11.00 per lb. Documentation and freight charges will be extra.
