As announced in FGRI No. 2/1973 (p. 65) seed of Araucaria cunninghamii is available from The Secretary, Department of Forestry, 388–400 Ann Street, Brisbane, Qld. 4001, Australia. The following additional information about the seed has been received:
“One of the characteristics of Hoop Pine (Araucaria cunninghamii) is that a bumper seed crop can be expected to occur about every four to five years. Intermittent good seed crops of localised provenances do occur in between bumper crops. The intermittent crops permit stocks of seed to be kept at a level which enables supplies to be forwarded to overseas countries. We have not always collected all the Hoop Pine seed available.
Below are tabulated all the location details for the seed provenances available. Seed from these provenances could be made available from storage as required by countries.

Currently experiments are being carried out at 5°F (-15°C); 15°F (-9.4°C) and 25°F (-3.9°C) and it is hoped to be able to keep the seed well beyond 5 years with less reduction in germination capacity.”
