As a result of collections of provenance seedlots of Araucaria cunninghamii and A. hunsteinii by the Office of Forests, Papua New Guinea (see Forest Genetic Resources Information No.8), seed was distributed by PNG in 1979 for international provenance trials as follows:
A. cunninghamii: A total of 9 institutes in 7 countries (Congo, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, USA)
A. hunsteinii: A total of 6 institutes in 4 countries (Congo, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Sri Lanka.
