LEUCAENA LEUCOCEPHALA

A two-month study on the growth and general performance of Leucaena leucocephala, Giant Ipil-Ipil, was undertaken in 1980 in the Philippines by Mr. K.A. Kushalappa, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Yellapur (India). Several plantations were visited to study the species and its behaviour on different kinds of sites, and observations were made on potential, spontaneous hybridization between stands of the originally introduced varieties K8, K28 and K67.

For information on site requirements and performance of the provenances studied and on the availability of seeds, please contact Mr. Kushalappa (Address: Yellapur Forest Division, Yellapur 581359, U.K. District, Karnataka. India).
