NEW IUFRO WORKING GROUP ON CASUARINA

An increasing world interest in the Casuarinas resulted in the International Casuarina Workshop being held in Canberra in August 1981 (proceedings in press). This Workshop recommended that an international Working Group be set up to help provide a greater exchange of information on the ecology, silviculture (including tree breeding and nitrogen fixation) and utilization (especially as fuelwood) of the Casuarinas.

IUFRO, at its recent meeting in Japan, agreed to the establishment of a IUFRO Working Group on Casuarina.
