POPLAR MATERIAL FROM CHINA

During the 16th Session of the International Poplar Commission (Turkey 1980), the representative from the People's Democratic Republic of China offered to make genetic material of Populus spp. available to other countries, including non-member countries of the I.P.C.

For the coming years, starting in 1982, a programme for the collection and distribution of species such as Populus maximowiczii and P. yunnanensis is envisaged.

Detailed information regarding species, provenances, quantities available etc., is not yet available. However, interested parties should contact at their earliest convenience the Chairman of the I.P.C., Mr E.W.S. van Krayenoord, National Plant Materials Centre, Aokautere Science Centre, Ministry of Works and Development, Private Bag, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
