In trying to reach any goal, you take advantage of helpful factors (the driving forces). You remove or decrease factors that hold you back (the restraining forces). In force-field analysis, you list these forces and rate their importance and your degree of control over them. You conclude by identifying the key forces on which to focus your action strategies.
