C. Eighth McDougall memorial lecture
3. The Eighth in the series of lectures at regular Conference sessions in memory of Frank Lidgett McDougall, a founding father of the Organization, was delivered by Saburo Okita, President of the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund of Japan.
D. Presentation of the B.R. Sen Awards for 1972 and 1973
4. The Chairman of the Conference presented the B.R. Sen Award for 1972 to Antonio Aimé (Haiti) and Paul Daniel (Switzerland) who were sharing the Award for that year. The former, a rural institutions officer, and the latter, a rural broadcasting specialist, had served as a team in Dahomey successfully developing together plans for a national extension service and assisting in the establishment of a rural youth club programme. The B.R. Sen Award for 1973 was presented to Abdul Hafiz (Pakistan). He had served in promoting cereal improvement and production in the Near East and in Africa, making also an outstanding contribution to development,
5. The Conference paid tribute to Antonio Orbaneja, who had succeeded Adrian Janssen as Secretary General of the Conference and Council in 1970 and who would retire from the Organization in the spring of 1974. Antonio Orbaneja had joined FAO in 1950 after previous service with the United Nations and ICAO.
