Domestic cereal availability in 2003 marketing year (January/December) is estimated at 68 000 tonnes against total utilization requirements of 508 000 tonnes. Cereal import requirement is thus estimated at 440 000 tonnes. With commercial imports anticipated at 80 000 tonnes, food aid needs are estimated at 360 000 tonnes. As of end June, the amount of food aid pledged stood at 43 000 tonnes all of which have been delivered.
