The FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Africa Abebe Haile-Gabriel today met with Estherine Fotabong, Director of Agriculture, Food Security and Environmental Sustainability at the African Union’s New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUDA-NEPAD), at the FAO Regional Office for Africa in Accra.

The pair discussed strengthening their collaboration as the continent embarks on developing the post-Malabo agenda and roadmap towards transforming agrifood systems in Africa.

They also discussed the importance of leveraging partnership and innovation opportunities to bring about tangible and notable impacts through enhanced country ownership and leadership, better alignment of initiatives and programmes, and synergetic coordination at all levels.  They highlighted the pivotal role that collaboration between AUDA-NEPAD and FAO can play towards realizing this vision.

"AUDA-NEPAD is a strategic  partner of FAO," Abebe Haile-Gabriel said, highlighting the strong relationship between the two organizations and their shared goals in advancing agricultural development, food security and nutrition, and sustainable management of natural resources and the environment in Africa.  He emphasized the need to build on what has been achieved together already towards better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.
