The conference brought together research and academic institutions, government bodies, farmer organizations, civil society groups, international organizations, private sectors, media, and development partners to share preliminary research results and discuss the applicability of agroforestry solutions to the country.

N’Guessan Amlan Monique is a 64-year-old widow and mother of 4 children. She is a cocoa producer in Ebikro-N’Dakro in the South Comoé region. 

Why do many farmers still resist adopting and scaling agroforestry? Are the economic benefits not enough, or not perceived to be enough? Or are there other reasons? These are the questions that were asked when work began on Tropical Forest Issues 62.

On the sidelines of the FAO 174th Session of Council, an event on “Scaling-up agroforestry” examined the linkages between agriculture and forestry, with a focus on how to scale up agroforestry as a means of enhancing synergies between the sectors.
