The context, strategy, and process followed by the RFLP to improve access by fisher communities around Negombo, Chilaw and Puttalam lagoons in Sri Lanka to micro-finance services (including savings, credit and insurance) is detailed. Lessons learned, unexpected benefits, results and recommendations are given for an innovative initiative, which the Minister for Fisheries has requested be replicated nationwide.

2011
A scoping mission was conducted by the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) to assess the current status of micro-finance services (including savings, credit and insurance) in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. This document is a consolidated report based on reports from six different APRACA teams which surveyed all six RFLP countries.
