Use of drones for early detection, surveillance, and outbreak management of animal diseases

The European Commission for the Control, of foot-and-mouth disease (EuFMD) is piloting the use of drones for early detection, surveillance, and outbreak management of FMD and similar transboundary animal diseases. This video shows a drone flying over a foot-and-mouth disease affected area in Kenya, also highlighting the animals reaction to the drone. Drones allow to obtain real time data and biological parameters in wider areas, and can capture the farm structure and surrounding area,and its borders, This is an excellent example how new technologies can support field activities in practice.
