During a cordial meeting with the Honourable Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Mr Ken Shimizu, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, conveyed the warm regards of the Assistant Director-General/Regional Representative for Asia and Pacific, Mr Jong-Jin Kim. He also commended the Government on its fruitful engagement with the Government of India. Discussions highlighted Bhutan's proactive role in the FAO's Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum in Rome, which offers significant opportunities to showcase investment plans and foster meaningful global partnerships. The meeting also delved into potential collaborations between the Government and FAO to revolutionize Bhutan’s agrifood systems, including the development of agro eco hubs, the expansion of commercial farming, and the enhancement of agricultural exports and trade. A focal point of the conversation was the promotion and export of quinoa, a climate-resilient, nutrient-rich crop introduced through FAO's One Country One Product initiative in 2015.
