Report Launch: The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World

Hybrid Event, 24/07/2024

The 2024 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report will, as usual, present the latest updates on the food security and nutrition situation around the world, including updated estimates on the cost and affordability of healthy diets. Subsequently, it will take a deep dive into its theme: “Financing to end hunger, food insecurity and all forms of malnutrition”. The report explores current levels and gaps in financing for food security and nutrition, and it provides guidance about innovative financing options to address the major drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition in the world. It also stresses the agrifood systems transformation needed to free the world from hunger and food insecurity (SDG Target 2.1) and malnutrition in all its forms (SDG Target 2.2) by 2030.

Such a theme is timely and relevant to the intergovernmental processes supporting the follow-up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in HLPF, including the Financing for Development Forum. The theme of this year comes timely in the run-up to the Summit of the Future, and the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in 2025.
