FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium

FAO and the United Nations in Brussels

One UN: Building a Better Future Together

As an active member of the UN family in Belgium, FAO contributes to joint efforts to build understanding and support for UN activities within the European Institutions and among a wider public in Europe.

Comprising around 30 United Nations agencies, funds, and programs, the UN Brussels team (UNBT) is a particularly good example of the One-UN spirit in action. Working together to define common positions and coordinate work on shared priority areas with various partners in Brussels and beyond.

Focusing on shared initiatives, joint messaging, and collective engagement the UN Brussels Team aims to deliver more coherently, in a coordinated and impactful manner.

Several task forces serve as platforms to strengthen internal coordination and foster engagement with partners. Among those are

  • The UN Brussels Task Force on the Green Deal
  • The UN Brussels Task Force on Digital Transformation
  • The UN Brussels Task Force on Gender Equality
