Together for Albania

The 17 February international donors’ conference in Brussels, Together for Albania, was convened by the European Union in support of reconstruction efforts after the November 2019 earthquake in Albania. The event gathered EU high-level representatives, its Member States and other partners, including those from the Western Balkans, international organizations and international financial institutions.


FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, Mr Vladimir Olegovich Rakhmanin, highlighted the support which FAO has been provided to the Government of Albania to assess the damage to the agriculture sector. In total, 1.15 billion euros were pledged for the reconstruction of Albania. Mr Rakhmanin also met with his European Union counterparts from the Directorates-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), to discuss current and future collaboration in the region.
