UN Collaboration Results from the Country Annual Report 2023

In 2023, FAO’s efforts to enhance its collaboration with the UN system led to greater results on the ground, more significant participation in UN planning and programming processes, and stronger partnerships, according to the latest Country Annual Report. The Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU) has launched a new page 📄 that breaks down the details.

 

FAO strengthens partnerships with ILO and WMO

In May, the FAO Director-General travelled to Geneva for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the AI for Good Global Summit, signing Memoranda of Understanding with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

 

Highlights from the 138th Session of the Programme Committee: Joint Evaluation of RBA Collaboration

Two years after the Joint Evaluation of collaboration among the Rome-based Agencies (RBAs) was published, FAO gathered with Members to review and discuss progress and actions on the Evaluation’s five recommendations and collaboration and coordination between the RBAs.

 

Strengthening Partnerships in the Senior Consultative Group Meeting with WFP and IFAD

On 15 April, Deputy Director-General Maurizio Martina led a meeting of the Senior Consultative Group (SCG), which acts as the main global body for regular RBA coordination at the management level. Discussions included ways to strengthen joint RBA positioning in international fora.

 

FAO and UNIDO working together to drive transformation of agrifood systems

A recent annual review of progress on FAO and UNIDO’s Partnership Action Plan highlights how collaboration between the two organizations is obtaining results in areas including agrifood systems transformation and food security.

 

New UN System Briefs now available online

New briefs include: the Chief Executive Board (CEB), the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG), the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, the United Nations General Assembly President (UNPGA), and the Economic and Social Council President (ECOSOC).
