Visit of the Young Fair Trade Advocates to FAO Brussels

24/05/2023
Representatives of the Young Fair Trade Advocates visited the FAO Liaison Office in Brussels to exchange on transforming agrifood systems and the role of young people in this effort.

The Young Fair Trade Advocates (YFTA) is a program of the Fair Trade Advocacy Office to gather young people from all over the European Union to become advocates for sustainable and fair EU trade policies as well as sustainable production and consumption at EU, regional and local level.

FAO Brussels presented the Organization’s work and mission to the young advocates with a particular emphasis on the role of youth, explaining how more resilient, sustainable, efficient and inclusive agrifood systems, are fundamental for our common future.

A key part of the exchange focused on the upcoming World Food Forum (WFF), taking place on 16-20 October 2023 in Rome. The WFF is an independent, youth-led global network of partners facilitated by FAO. It aims to spark a global movement that empowers young people everywhere to actively shape agrifood systems to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a better food future for all.
