World Portuguese Language Day in Brussels

07/05/2024

In commemoration of World Portuguese Language Day, which is observed annually on 5 May, and in support of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the Embassy of Portugal in Belgium, UN Environment Programme and FAO in Brussels in partnership with the United Nations in Brussels, presented the Portuguese-language documentary "Lindo" by Margarida Gramaxo. This documentary explores the delicate balance between humanity and nature, particularly within the fragile economy of Príncipe Island.

Following the screening, a panel discussion took place, that included a representative from FAO, who highlighted FAO's Blue Transformation initiative. The Blue Transformation initiative is designed to support the resilience of aquatic food systems and ensure that fisheries and aquaculture are sustainably managed.

The event provided a platform for dialogue and reflection on pressing environmental issues, emphasizing the importance of collective action in protecting our planet's ecosystems.
