The FAO Director-General QU Dongyu stressed the central role of forests for sustainable development at the Opening Segment of the High-Level Day of the 19th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19) at UN headquarters in New York on 9 May.

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), QU Dongyu, addressed the 19th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19) High-Level Segment , along with other heads of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF).

An important gathering took place at the 19th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19), where global environmental and development organizations convened to address the urgent need to strengthen the conservation of primary forests worldwide.

The Collaborative Partnership on Forests Communicators Network Joint Initiative today launched a new initiative to encourage greater use of products made from sustainably grown wood as a key strategy for combating climate change. 

The world’s countries, and many international organizations and forest stakeholders, will meet next week to inject new ideas and further urgency into the quest to scale up forest-based solutions to global challenges.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests will play a key role in contributing to the deliberations of the upcoming 19th Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19).

FAO Forestry will play a key role in contributing to the deliberations of the upcoming United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF18). 

The Green Climate Fund (GCF), one of the world’s largest providers of forest finance, has joined the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) in a move that will enhance global efforts to end deforestation and ensure the sustainable management of forests and trees. 

Through strategic partnerships such as the CPF, transformational change can be achieved, and barriers to addressing deforestation and forest degradation can be removed.
