Digital Services Portfolio against climate change in the United Republic of Tanzania: interviews with experts
05/12/2023
In the United Republic of Tanzania, like many other places in the world, the effects of weather variations and climate change are increasingly posing significant challenges to crop cultivation, livestock management, and fishing activities, ultimately causing detrimental effects on agricultural outputs and food security.
Launched in 2021, the Tanzanian version of the FAO Digital Services Portfolio (DSP), Ugani Kiganjani, is driving agricultural transformation, fostering partnerships, and paving the way for more sustainable and climate-resilient agrifood systems.
The launch of a new series of interviews, starting with experts working in different institutions in the field, allows us to delve deeper into the transformative power of Ugani Kiganjani.
Watch Mponda Malozo, FAO National Agriculture and Digital Transformation Expert, explain how Ugani Kiganjani plays a key role in helping farmers and livestock keepers to adopt better mitigation and adaptation measures that will contribute to tackling the ramping negative effects of climate change by facilitating information sharing and capacity building in the country.
Watch also Makame Khatib Makame, Executive Director of the Zanzibar Disaster Commission, and Owen Kibona, Principal Fishery Officer in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, present the pivotal role played by Ugani Kiganjani in facilitating seamless information and agricultural advisories dissemination. Ugani Kiganjani empowers tanzanian institutions to better communicate with farmers, livestock keepers, and fishers, enabling a more efficient adaptation to the consequences of climate change.
