Rome - The approaching 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) marks a time both to reflect on its history, its dynamic present and to look to the future and how to make FAO even more fit for purpose, Director-General QU Dongyu said today as he opened the Organization’s sixth Employee Recognition Awards ceremony.

Thale Noi, Thailand - Director-General QU Dongyu today visited the Thale Noi Wetland Buffalo Pastoral Agro-Eco-System in southern Thailand, the first site in the country to be designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). Recognized under the FAO programme in 2022, it is a place where communities have found balance between livelihoods and taking care of the environment.
