In collaboration with Haiti’s Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, FAO carried out the first of a series of agricultural input distributions to support vulnerable farming families to prepare for the spring season in the context of the current pandemic and humanitarian crisis in the country.

Between 2018 and the first half of 2019, Haiti experienced a long period of drought due to the El Niño phenomenon. As a result, agricultural production decreased by at least 12 percent compared with the previous year, which was already lower than the general average production rate.
