7th Sustainable Food Summit

On the occasion of World Food Day 2021, FAO, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Sustainability Academy and the Turkish Food & Beverage Industry Employers Association are jointly organizing the 7th Sustainable Food Summit. Bringing together leading figures from public institutions, the private sector, international organizations and civil society, the two-day summit will focus on the future of food, evaluating recent trends and rapid changes in the food and agriculture sector.

With a view to contributing to the transformation of agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, the Summit aims to examine current and possible threats to food and nutrition. It will cover a wide range of topics including sustainable agriculture, climate change, the food cycle, innovation, supply chains, consumer behaviour and holistic nutrition.

Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and Viorel Gutu, FAO Turkey Representative will be among the speakers delivering opening speeches. Following the opening session, a World Food Day panel entitled “Transforming Food Systems” will take place moderated by Ahu Orakçıoğlu. The panel will feature Ahmet Volkan Güngören, Deputy Director-General for EU & Foreign Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ayşegül Selışık, FAO Turkey Assistant Representative, Nil Memişoğlu, UN Volunteers Turkey Country Coordinator and Toker Ergüder, WHO Turkey Programme Director.
