Food safety in Europe and Central Asia: Past, present and future

FAO and WHO celebrated World Food Safety Day on 7 June under the theme "Safer food, better health" to highlight the vital role of food safety in saving lives of millions, and ensuring fair trade all over the world.

On this occasion, FAO’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the WHO Regional Office for Europe is inviting all interested parties in the region to a lively discussion on the importance of food safety, on 10 June, 2022. The panel will present historical events which influenced early food control activities and led to  critical progress in food safety management; priorities in today’s world for public and private actors to ensure safety of the food produced and consumed, and how these priorities are being addressed; and finally, challenges and opportunities the future holds for food safety assurance.

The webinar is targeting all actors in the food chain, particularly, policy-makers and food safety authorities in Member Countries in the region, also food producers and associations, non-governmental organizations, academia, and consumer groups. The webinar will be held in English with simultaneous translation into Russian.
