IPPC/FAO Regional Workshop

The IPPC/FAO Regional Workshop was prepared by the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU), in cooperation with the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and with the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO). It will be hosted by the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Centre (VNIIKR).
Phytosanitary experts from more than 20 countries confirmed their participation in the workshop. The main objective of the event is to discuss the draft International Standards on Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) which have been submitted this year to the IPPC country consultations and to develop comments to those drafts. Experts will also be trained on fulfilling by countries the National Reporting Obligations (NROs) resulting from the IPPC.
The draft ISPMs for discussion are:
- 2017 amendments to ISPM 5: Glossary of phytosanitary terms
- 2018 Amendments to ISPM 5: Glossary of phytosanitary terms
- Revision of ISPM 8: Determination of pest status in an area
- Authorization of entities to perform phytosanitary actions
- Requirements for the use of modified atmosphere treatments as phytosanitary measures.
